Habit	Branching more horizontal, requiring formative pruning as a young tree.
Leaves	eaves glossy green and deeply serrated.
Planting	Shallow fibrous roots. Transplants better than most other oaks. Hardy. Will tolerate wetter sites and moderate drought. Low salt tolerance and requires acidic soils.
